ALASTAIR SMITH
CO-FOUNDER
Alastair is a cofounder and director of PowerGen Renewable Energy founded in 2011 in Kenya with a mission to provide power to the un- and under-served. The Company has raised more than $100m and is developing a portfolio of 120MW across the African continent. He holds a mechanical engineering bachelor from Harvard University.
SUDHIR NUNES
STRATEGIC ADVISOR
Sudhir is a visionary leader and platform builder with over 25 years of global experience in renewable energy, private equity-backed ventures, and infrastructure development and a proven track record of founding, scaling, and exiting high-growth platforms in Asia. As CEO of Levanta Renewables, he secured USD 500 million from Actis and built a 1 GW wind and solar pipeline with 140 MW operating assets across Southeast Asia. As CEO Wind Business at Orange Renewable, he developed a 2 GW wind pipeline and executed 567 MW in under five years. Sudhir’s leadership spans development, M&A, operations, and fundraising, with a track record of recruiting high-performing teams and delivering superior returns. Sudhir holds an MBA from IESE Business School in Spain and an MS in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.
Nicolas is an industrial engineer specialized in energy project development and infrastructure finance.
He began his career at OSIsoft (PI System), the industry-standard data platform used across oil & gas, utilities, and mining to manage operations through real-time instrumentation and SCADA data. He later led the negotiations of multiple PPAs and a 20-year utility concession for a first-of-a-kind power project signed with the Government of Benin.
At Karda One, he focuses on structuring technically complex energy projects into staged, financeable pathways.
He holds a specialization in Energy Project Management from HEC Montréal.
ARNOUT EVERTS, PhD
TECHNICAL ADVISORY LEAD
Arnout is a broad-skilled geoscientist with a PhD from VU University in Amsterdam, Netherlands and 35 years industry experience, mostly in oil and gas but more recently renewables and CCS. His areas of expertise include techno-commercial project due-diligence, field (re)development, oil & gas reserve and resource assessments, geothermal resources and exploitation viability, underground storage of CO2 (CCS), and natural hydrogen. He has participated and/or led over 100 energy projects over the last 12 years, spanning the entire project life-cycle from frontier exploration to late field-life. He has specific experience with Enhanced Geothermal Systems as he has worked on analysis of Australian EGS opportunities (Paralana and surrounding areas) and has analysed potential of hot springs in Malaysia for geothermal exploitation. As EuroGeologist title holder, Arnout is entitled to sign off on Company Reserves and Resources reports submitted to regulatory bodies.
NICK DINGMANS
LEGAL ADVISOR
Nick is an experienced corporate lawyer based in Singapore and works throughout the Asia Pacific region and globally. He advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and general corporate commercial work. Nick works primarily on cross-border transactions in emerging markets. He has a strong personal interest in energy, natural resources, commodities, technology and financial institution.
He is qualified in England and Wales and New Zealand. Nick has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. He is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and the Association of International Energy Negotiators.
